Wood is often used to enhance the value of food and beverages, for example cheese or whisky. Cigars are an example of an inedible product which can be enhanced in this way.
                                               
The wooden scoop is used to stir and season the food. When the wood of the scoop comes in contact with the food, the food takes up the taste of the wood. The strength of the flavour depends on the length of the boiling time. Five different woods were specially chosen for their taste; fir, maple, juniper, oak and cedar.
